The Canon A-1 is a landmark 35mm SLR (1978) and the first camera to offer a full set of PASM exposure modes, including programmed auto-exposure. It pairs Canon's FD lens mount with an electronically controlled cloth focal-plane shutter (30s–1/1000s) and a red LED viewfinder readout. A refined, highly capable enthusiast body, it remains a favourite for shooting film today.
